Traffik and More in This Week's MPAA Ratings Bulletin

View Chris Kavan's Profile

By Chris Kavan - 03/28/18 at 10:04 AM CT

I've lamented for several weeks because the MPAA Ratings Board has continually granted two decent films on each update. Well, this week brings a change... but not the one I was hoping for. Instead of two films to talk about this week I get one. Yes one film on the list is getting a wide release and that's it. And it happens to be an action-oriented film, one I readily admit does little for me personally. Sigh - the board is sure to pick things up next week, I can only hope.

Our one big film for the week is Traffik. The film stars Omar Epps and Paula Patton as a couple looking to spend a romantic weekend on a mountain retreat only to stumble upon a biker gang and a secret they are willing to kill for in order to keep it that way. The film boasts plenty of talent: Laz Alonso, Missi Pyle, William Fichtner, Luke Goss, Dawn Olivieri and Roselyn Sanchez are all on board and with a diverse cast, it looks to reach across to drawn in black and Latino audiences along with fans of action. Still, nothing about this really screams "must see" and it looks to me to be a typical action flick. It drops before summer movie season in late April, so we'll see how it stacks up then. Rated R for violent and disturbing material, language throughout, some drug use and sexual content.

Hope that satiated you, because that's all that's on the menu this time. But by all means, please check out the full MPAA Ratings Bulletin below:
